Specialist, Energy, Real Estate Services

The Energy Specialist will provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to Standard Bank South Africa and Africa Regions on energy management across the organisations property portfolio. The role focuses on supporting renewable energy deployment diversifying energy supply and strengthening energy data management to support operational resilience and decarbonisation objectives.

Qualifications :

Bachelors or Masters degree in one of the following fields:

• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Renewable Energy Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Energy Engineering or a related discipline

Experience Required:

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in energy management renewable energy deployment or energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting or evaluating renewable energy procurement structures including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or similar mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies including solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
• Experience working with energy consumption data metering systems and utilities billing information.
• Working knowledge of electricity tariffs utility structures and energy regulatory frameworks in South Africa would be advantageous.
• Experience with energy monitoring platforms or energy management systems.
• Exposure to ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems or similar frameworks would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the development and evaluation of renewable energy projects including solar PV battery energy storage and other distributed energy solutions across the property portfolio.
• Assisting with the assessment and implementation of renewable energy procurement mechanisms including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) wheeling arrangements and other energy supply structures.
• Providing technical input into feasibility assessments business cases and financial models for renewable energy investments.
• Supporting the implementation and optimisation of energy monitoring systems metering infrastructure and energy data platforms.
• Analysing utilities consumption and billing data to improve visibility of energy performance across the portfolio.
• Supporting collaboration with internal stakeholders and external developers on renewable energy deployment across multiple African markets.
• Contributing to the diversification of energy supply and improving the energy resilience of critical facilities.
• Supporting the implementation of Group energy management practices and reporting frameworks.
