Duties and responsibilities:
Provide multimedia design and content development services including video editing audio production graphics and digital resources to enhance the user experience across UFS Library digital platforms and support initiatives such as the African Languages Press (ALP).
Provide technical support and training to staff and students on digital tools equipment and platforms including workshops tutorials and embedded project assistance.
Contribute expertise to the development and implementation of digital library services content strategies instructional materials and emerging technologies that support teaching learning research creative experimentation and the digital visibility of ALP publications.
Contribute to collaborations and interdisciplinary digital projects promoting UFS Librarys digital offerings and innovative services.
Responsible for managing multimedia and digitization equipment ensuring operational functionality troubleshooting and maintenance.
Responsible for producing editing and publishing high-quality multimedia content while ensuring compliance with UFS policies and accessibility standards.
Responsible for supporting the development and management of digital collections including software licensing collection policies and integration of new technologies aligned with research and scholarly needs.
Responsible for serving as Web Manager of the African Languages Press (ALP) online bookstore ensuring accurate content management timely updates of book listings effective digital marketing support and the professional presentation and accessibility of ALP publications.
Inherent Job Requirements:
A 3-year National Diploma on NQF Level 6 in Information Technology.
Relevant practical experience related to the duties and responsibilities.
The following criteria apply to the selection of potential candidates:
The applicant must be willing to sign a learnership/internship agreement with UFS.
The applicant must be available for a period of 1 year to participate in the learnership/internship.
Recommendations:
Knowledge of Information Technology applications and content management systems including Sitefinity and Springshare products to develop and manage digital library platforms.
Knowledge of video editing and post-production with proficiency in Camtasia Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro After Effects Photoshop) DaVinci Resolve and Audacity for high-quality multimedia production.
Knowledge of HTML for creating editing and maintaining web content and library webpages.
