We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential non-medical support to individuals who need assistance with daily activities due to aging physical disability or cognitive impairment. The goal of this role is to empower clients to live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own homes or residential facilities while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing grooming dressing and toileting.
- Provide support with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) such as light housekeeping laundry and grocery shopping.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to the clients dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Provide medication reminders to ensure clients follow their prescribed schedules.
- Assist with functional mobility including transfers from beds to wheelchairs and positioning to prevent pressure sores.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments social outings or errands providing transportation if required.
- Monitor the clients physical and mental condition reporting any significant changes to family members or supervisors.
- Offer emotional support and companionship through conversation games or shared activities to reduce social isolation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by identifying and mitigating potential fall or health hazards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred but not always required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/First Aid certification.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation with active auto insurance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of patience and empathy.
- Physical stamina to assist with lifting pulling or pushing clients as needed.
Work Environment
This position primarily takes place in the clients private residence or a community living setting. The role requires the ability to work independently maintain professional boundaries and adapt to different household environments while respecting the clients privacy and dignity.
