Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and receiving functional direction from the Finance Team Leader you will be responsible for the accurate completion of Accounts Receivable including account reconciliations departmental inquiries cashiering and assisting with other projects as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Regularly runs reports from Meditech to generate billings
  • Diagnostic coding of patient billing data
  • Collecting and submitting data to WSIB for work related incidents
  • Assessing and recording remittance from WSIB and Ministry of Health
  • Processing billings for Out of Province Out of Country Landed Immigrant and Refugee Immigrant and Uninsured Resident and other 3rd parties
  • Processing and applying all payments received by mail and direct deposits to patient accounts while maintaining accuracy and privacy
  • Processing all other cash/cheque payment made to the hospital with appropriate general ledger coding of the payment
  • Receiving cash credit/debit card and cheque payments from patients at the cashiers desk or from the mail; making change and issuing receipts
  • Ensuring letters and statements are prepared and sent out in a timely manner
  • Corresponding with Patients to obtain health card and insurance information
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Understanding of confidential nature of information
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility and accountability
  • Understanding of MIS Guidelines an asset
  • Understanding of Meditech Accounts Receivable Module an asset
  • High level of speed and accuracy in data entry
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to function in fast paced environment and able to adapt to change

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Secondary School diploma required
  • Two (2) year Business Diploma from a Community College
  • Accounting courses or relevant experience is required
  • Successful completion of medical terminology is an asset
  • Experience with OHIP billings Insurance Billings and cashiering
  • Strong organizational time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
