Position Overview

The Public Affairs Specialist supports SOCOM internal and external communications by developing strategic messaging written products and visual content. This role combines editorial excellence public affairs expertise and multimedia production to support senior leaders and a highly specialized audience. The specialist works closely with PA leadership to ensure accurate engaging and standardscompliant communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan implement and manage SOCOM internal communication strategies
• Develop speeches talking points key messages and narrative themes for senior leaders
• Support strategic public affairs planning and coordination with IO PSYOP and interagency partners
• Write and edit news stories features and command updates
• Capture and produce professional photography and visual content
• Design and layout print and digital publications
• Coordinate across PA teams and maintain content calendars and metrics
• Monitor and analyze media coverage; produce actionable media reports
• Support emerging PA requirements as needed

• Possess activeTop SecretClearance eligible for SCI
• Bachelors degree in Public Relations Communications Journalism English Marketing or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in public affairs journalism strategic communications or media relations
• Minimum 4 years of public affairs experience at the E-6/O-4 level within the Department of War federal government or national security environment withdemonstratedexperience supporting high-level military commands or executive communications.
• At least 3 years of experience in layout and design of print/digital publicationsphotographyand visual content production.
• Proficient in DVIDS and/or other DOW media management platforms
• Minimum 2 years of experienceutilizingAdobe Creative Suite
• Understanding ofthe Joint Information Environment (JIE) Information Operations (IO) and Strategic Communication principles.

• On-site at HQ USSOCOM and HQ SOCCENT MacDill AFB FL
• MondayFriday (Federal holidays excluded)
