Job Summary

Overview

We are looking for a Compliance assistant to join either our Basingstoke or Birmingham office and work primarily in our KYC team with responsibility for reviewing and screening new clients and new matters as well as sourcing and reviewing know your client (KYC) material as required in compliance with our risk management and regulatory purposes.

Responsibilities

  • To process and review new client and matter risk assessments and obtain KYC on a risk based approach in respect of a wide spectrum of clients.
  • To undertake adverse media high risk KYC and sanctions screening using available resources.
  • To undertake research as requested in order to assist the Best Practice team in determining whether risk factors associated with new clients and matters are acceptable.
  • To liaise with key stakeholders to obtain relevant information.
  • To assist with the Best Practice Enquiry Triage process assist the Best Practice team in dealing with enquiries.
  • To undertake training when required and being responsible for self-development
  • To perform other duties as reasonably required.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

  • Proven accuracy with good attention to detail
  • IT Literate
  • Good communications skills at all levels
  • Able to work under pressure and to prioritise where necessary
  • Able to work as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a similar role in a UK law firm
