About the Role
Our Client is seeking a Senior Specialized IT Consultant with strong expertise in clinical terminology standards and digital health interoperability to support the Digital Health Standards Program.
The consultant will contribute to Ontarios Digital Health and Data Strategy by supporting initiatives related to clinical data interoperability terminology standards and digital health exchange. The role will involve working with clinical business and technical stakeholders to design and implement terminology solutions supporting provincial digital health systems.
Key Responsibilities
Provide terminology expertise to support Digital Health Standards initiatives
Conduct environmental scans and research related to healthcare terminology and interoperability
Develop and maintain data standards specifications supporting terminology and data exchange
Support data standards harmonization and interoperability initiatives
Lead process mapping workflow improvement and operationalization of standards initiatives
Gather and analyze business and technical requirements
Develop documentation presentations and briefing materials for stakeholders
Engage with clinical technical and business partners to support standards adoption
Support testing and implementation of terminology standards and services
Contribute to terminology strategy and implementation initiatives across the province
Support terminology tooling and technology adoption within digital health platforms
Required Skills & Experience
10 years of experience implementing clinical terminology standards
Strong experience with SNOMED CT and LOINC terminology mapping and implementation
Deep understanding of digital health interoperability standards including HL7 FHIR and HL7 v2
Hands on experience implementing terminology services and terminology solutions
Knowledge of pan Canadian digital health exchange standards and frameworks
Experience working with terminology tools such as Ontoserver
Strong experience with clinical data standards and healthcare data interoperability
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Nice to Have
Experience with terminology management tools such as Apelon DTS TermWorks Ontoserver or Shrimp
Knowledge of Canadian healthcare information systems
Experience supporting Electronic Health Record initiatives
Experience implementing interoperable digital health solutions
Familiarity with Ontario healthcare systems and digital health initiatives
Additional Skills
Strong documentation and presentation skills
Experience working with cross functional healthcare teams
Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
Experience working within public sector healthcare environments
