Energy Markets Analyst
Overview
Enemix are partnering with an Energy Retailer seeking a highly skilled and motivated Energy Markets Analyst to join their team. This role is pivotal in supporting strategic decision-making by providing actionable insights through data-driven analysis market monitoring and advanced modelling. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing decisions and developing strategies in the dynamic energy markets including gas and power while contributing to the energy transition.
The Energy Markets Analyst is responsible for energy modelling and analysis across the east and west coast gas and power markets global LNG markets and domestic and global liquids markets. This role ensures accurate market intelligence supports information flow and provides insights to optimize commercial strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain energy market models and forecasts to support commercial and trading strategies.
- Monitor short and longterm market trends across gas liquids and electricity including price movements system constraints and supplydemand dynamics.
- Analyse regulatory and policy changes to assess market impacts and provide strategic recommendations.
- Build and refine pricing loadforecasting and scenarioanalysis models using statistical and quantitative methods.
- Collect manage and analyse large datasets while producing dashboards visualisations and reports for internal teams.
- Deliver insights that inform trading positions commercial strategies and crossfunctional decisionmaking.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including regulators system operators and industry groups.
- Communicate complex findings clearly and contribute positively to a collaborative inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an energy market analyst economist or trading analyst role.
- Strong understanding of power and gas markets in Australia.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel SQL and Python (or similar).
- Proven experience with market modelling forecasting or simulation tools.
- Demonstrable experience in developing accurate market models.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science Mathematics Engineering Economics or a related field.
