The Commencement Student Worker position is responsible for assisting the Office of Events Office of Exhibitions and the MICA Store in the installation of the ArtWalk Exhibition and the preparation and execution of the Commencement Ceremony.
Major role functions:
Assist the Office of Events with the preparation of campus-wide event materials
Assist the Office of Exhibitions with the distribution of installation equipment and technology
Assist the MICA Store with the distribution of regalia
Act as an ArtWalk Ambassador during the ArtWalk Exhibition Opening
Act as front-of-house or backstage staff during the Commencement Ceremonies
Position responsibilities:
Assist with the setup and distribution of events and exhibition materials; move objects furniture trash technology etc. from buildings to various locations across campus.
Under some supervision assist with administration tasks; creating signage prepping event materials and answering phones.
Greet guests monitor attendance and alert supervisor in charge of any disruptions during the ArtWalk Exhibition Opening.
Under some supervision place staging equipment distribute materials and information and direct participants before the start of the Commencement Ceremonies.
Assist Manager of Performance Spaces & Director of Events as needed.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanor.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required essential skills and experience:
Ability to perform basic math as well as read write and speak English to understand and communicate written/verbal instructions.
Ability to follow directions and work independently or work as part of a team and the ability to work well and cooperatively with people from different backgrounds.
Ability to solve problems ask questions and think through solutions related to technical duties.
Ability to lift carry push or pull a variety of tools equipment and materials; reach stoop kneel climb and crouch to gain access to spaces and may involve both indoor and outside work.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
