SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

The School of Continuing Education one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time School is inviting applications for the following position:

Accounting Manager (Income and Project) ()

The School aims to complete registration as a post-secondary college within the next few years committed to enhancing the internationalisation and diversification of higher education and developing distinctive and professional programmes that address the manpower needs of society. Once this strategic development is solidified it is planned that the role will evolve with a long-term prospect.

To support this transformation the Accounts and Purchasing Section is seeking an Accounting Manager tosupport theSenior Accounting Manager to oversee various functions of the Section to enable the Schools strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting transactions including purchasing budget checking income collection payment;
  • Assist in managing procurement activities including supplier and tender management;
  • Maintain accurate financial records by ensuring all income and expenditures are properly recorded implementing controls to prevent errors such as double payments and handling payment processing for purchases;
  • Collaborate with internal divisions of the School and the Finance Office of the University to resolve accounting and purchasing matters;
  • Supervise and guide subordinate staff to support efficient operations;
  • Coordinate programme-related tasks such as handling enquiries and liaise with administrators;
  • Conduct analytical reviews of financial statements and budgets;
  • Lead inventory control and financial administration;
  • Assist in the annual budgeting cycle; and
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in accounting or finance with membership in a recognised professional accounting body;
  • Minimum of5 years of relevant experience preferably in higher education or public sector settings;
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills; proficiency in Advanced Excel and common accounting systems;
  • Sound understanding of internal controls compliance and funding code application;
  • Proven supervisory experience with a track record of effective deadline-driven teams;
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • High competency in computer applications and compilation of statistical data;
  • Well-organised detail-minded highly self-motivated and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision; and
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
