Job Summary:

The Coordinator Multi-tiered Behavioral Supports (Elementary) provides leadership in developing and implementing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for behavior and wellness in elementary schools. This position supports schools in building strong Tier 1 systems developing effective Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and aligning behavioral supports with district frameworks and state regulations. The coordinator collaborates closely with site administrators counselors behavior teams and alternative program staff to create proactive aligned behavioral systems that improve school climate and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary regional point of contact for elementary sites on multi-tiered system of supports for behavior and wellness providing coaching consultation and problem solving.
  • Support development of Tier 1 behavioral expectations positive school climate practices and frameworks aligned to the Mesa Public Schools and Arizona multi-tiered system of supports.
  • Provide technical assistance for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions including positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) behavior teams and re-entry processes.
  • Collaborate with site and departmental staff such as psychologists and alternative program teams to support student placement intervention and reintegration.
  • Facilitate site-level data-based decision making for intervention planning and progress monitoring.
  • Lead professional learning and capacity building for elementary staff on multi-tiered system of supports implementation and positive behavior and preventive strategies and tiered interventions.
  • Support sites in crisis response planning and alignment with district safety procedures.
  • Monitor implementation fidelity and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in education special education or related field.
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate with special education endorsement(s).
  • Minimum of three years special education teaching or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting elementary special education programs at the site or district level.
  • Administrative or leadership experience.
  • Experience leading MTSS at a school site.

Skills &Competencies:

  • Demonstrated understanding of positive behavior and preventive strategies and tiered interventions.
  • Knowledge of IDEA Section 504 and state behavioral/MTSS regulations.
  • Strong understanding of tiered intervention frameworks and data-based decision making.
  • Ability to build capacity through coaching and professional learning.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with diverse teams.
  • Ability to analyze and use behavioral data to drive improvements.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based with frequent district site visits.
  • Occasional evening or weekend commitments.
  • Fast-paced high-stakes environment requiring adaptability and responsiveness.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing and handling documents.
  • Occasional standing walking bending and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual acuity for reading and computer work.
