The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serve 1600 studentsfrom PreK-12 and are a free open-enrollment public charter school. Over 96% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School Guadalupe Centers Middle School and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Our roots in our community run deep.

Summary: The ideal candidate will design and deliver engaging elective courses that empower students with essential 21st-century digital skills. This includes topics such as online safety digital citizenship productivity tools basic coding media literacy and responsible technology use.

Reports To: Building Principal

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach digital literacy and technology-related electives for students in grades 68.

  • Create lesson plans that meet educational standards while fostering creativity critical thinking and real-world application.

  • Integrate digital tools and platforms into classroom instruction to enhance learning outcomes.

  • Teach students how to evaluate online sources use digital productivity tools (e.g. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) and practice safe and responsible online behavior.

  • Facilitate project-based learning experiences involving technology such as coding digital storytelling or media creation.

  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative methods.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to support school-wide digital citizenship initiatives.

  • Maintain a positive inclusive classroom culture that encourages student exploration and ethical digital engagement.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and digital education trends.

  • Communicate regularly with parents guardians and school staff regarding student progress and curriculum goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Educational Technology Computer Science or related field.

  • Valid teaching credential or certification (as required by the state).

  • Experience teaching middle school students.

  • Strong knowledge of digital literacy concepts tools and platforms.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Spanish.

  • Experience in coding instruction (e.g. Scratch Python or web development).

  • Familiarity with digital media tools (e.g. video editing graphic design or podcasting).

  • Google Certified Educator or similar edtech certifications.

  • Passion for integrating STEM/STEAM principles in education

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing to teach.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
