Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs a variety of laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment. This role is responsible for analyzing patient specimens conducting blood bank and transfusion testing and ensuring compliance with laboratory quality and regulatory standards.
The technologist works collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver reliable laboratory results while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
Perform clinical laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures following established laboratory protocols.
Analyze patient specimens and ensure accurate processing of laboratory samples.
Conduct laboratory testing across multiple departments including hematology chemistry and blood bank services.
Review and validate test results before reporting to physicians and healthcare providers.
Blood Bank Operations
Perform blood typing compatibility testing and cross-matching procedures.
Support safe and accurate blood transfusion services.
Maintain proper handling and storage of blood products in accordance with regulatory standards.
Quality & Compliance
Follow laboratory quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Ensure compliance with state regulations and laboratory accreditation standards.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of laboratory results.
Laboratory Operations
Operate maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance according to laboratory protocols.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to support diagnostic and treatment decisions.
Required Qualifications
Associates Degree from an accredited Laboratory Technology Program.
Active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (NYSED License Code 092).
Primary source verification of licensure required.
Minimum 1 year of Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience.
Experience performing blood bank testing and transfusion services.
