Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric Float Pool provides specialized nursing care to pediatric patients across multiple inpatient pediatric units. The nurse delivers comprehensive patient care in an acute care setting performing detailed assessments administering treatments and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality care for infants children and adolescents.
This role requires adaptability and strong clinical skills as the nurse will support different pediatric units based on patient care needs while maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in an inpatient acute care setting.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments monitor clinical conditions and document findings.
Administer medications intravenous therapies and treatments as ordered by physicians.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers.
Monitor patient responses to treatment and promptly report any changes in condition.
Provide family-centered care by educating patients and caregivers about treatment plans and recovery processes.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Support multiple pediatric units as part of the pediatric float pool adapting to varying patient care environments.
Collaborate with physicians specialists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
Follow infection control protocols and patient safety standards at all times.
Assist in emergency situations and perform life-saving interventions when required.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past two years.
At least 2 years of experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Strong pediatric nursing assessment and patient care skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Experience working in pediatric inpatient units or pediatric float pool settings.
Prior experience in large hospital systems or trauma centers.
