The Director Strategic Projects and Optimization is a position focused on collaborating with leaders in TeamUHNs Joint Department of Medical Imaging and Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) and colleagues in areas such as UHNs Michener Institute. The Director will lead strategic initiatives that strengthen workforce sustainability and operational performance within Medical Imaging. Initially the role will focus on defining and implementing opportunities expand Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) clinical placements and strengthen the recruitment pipeline. Additionally the Director will develop operational plans that establish the foundation for optimizing imaging operations. Over time the Director will support broader transformational initiatives that improve access efficiency and the delivery of high-quality imaging services within a complex academic health system.

Duties

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to expand and strengthen clinical placement opportunities for Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) students in partnership with UHNs Michener Institute
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with academic partners to support high-quality clinical training experiences and create a sustainable pipeline for recruitment into hospital MRT roles
  • Develop modality-specific operational plans across Medical Imaging to guide service delivery capacity planning and resource optimization
  • Support the translation of operational data analysis into actionable insights to inform resource optimization
  • Work with modality leaders and operational teams to translate operational plans into actionable initiatives that support consistent high-quality service delivery
  • Support the planning and implementation of strategic and transformational initiatives within Medical Imaging that advance program priorities and modernization efforts
  • Facilitate collaboration across clinical operational and academic stakeholders to drive alignment and successful implementation of initiatives
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement innovation and collaboration within Medical Imaging 
  • Identify and implement effective change and project management frameworks and processes to advance key priorities based on best practices
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders in planning and project prioritization process
  • Monitor changing priorities trends legislative requirements and/or other internal and external emerging issues analyzing the potential impact on organizational goals priorities and activities and recommending and/or implementing appropriate strategies to achieve desired results
  • Participate actively as a member of the UHN leadership team: keeping the clinical VP and portfolio leadership team fully informed on the status of initiatives and important factors influencing academic practice and patient centred care
  • Contribute to corporate efforts and initiatives as appropriate to enhance UHNs mission values and goals including operational effectiveness and patient and staff satisfaction

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a Masters degree in Business Administration Health Administration or recognized equivalent
  • At minimum 10 years of practical and related experience
  • Track record of demonstrated professional accomplishments with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a senior-level professional development planning or project management role
  • At minimum 5 years of management experience in a health care setting
  • Project/change management education and experience essential to lead complex projects and deliver results that meet identified expectations and timelines
  • Demonstrate a leadership style which is visionary creative and collaborative
  • Ability to implement robust project management practices including regular progress tracking risk assessment and performance evaluation
