Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Squadron Leader (Any Profession) to serve as SO2 Strategic Reserves at RAF High Wycombe on Full Time Reserves Service (Limited Commitment) (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 31 August 2026 (or earlier/later subject to formal establishment and candidate status).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly forming team at the heart of RAF Strategic Reserve policy and delivery. As SO2 Strategic Reserves you will be the principal coordinator within the team translating strategic direction into actionable outputs across governance data mobilisation and stakeholder engagement. Working directly to the SO1 you will provide line management to the enlisted team members and ensure the coherent delivery of Strategic Reserve outputs.

Position Responsibilities

Coordinate the implementation of governance direction set by SO1; represent the SO1 at Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and working groups.

Maintain oversight of JPA accuracy for the Strategic Reserve cohort ensuring returns meet policy timelines; coordinate the production of Management Information dashboards and analytical reports.

Coordinate Phase 1 refresher training activity and mobilisation workflows; support exercise planning injects and deliverables for Transition to Conflict (TTC) Agile Combat Employment (ACE) Strategic Defence Review (SDR) and major Defence/NATO exercises such as STEADFAST DEFENDER 2027.

Coordinate routine engagement with Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) capability planners and cross-RAF partners; act as the primary coordination point with Profession Advisors and Capability Owners at the working level.

Coordinate onboarding pathways for new Strategic Reserve capability cohorts including Terms of Service clarifications and training dependencies.
