Position Overview
Team Zak is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Insurance Officer (CIO) to lead the organizations insurance operations underwriting strategy product development compliance and risk management initiatives. As a key member of the executive leadership team the CIO will shape the companys insurance vision ensure regulatory compliance and drive profitability through strong underwriting discipline and market innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all insurance operations including underwriting claims product development actuarial collaboration and risk management.

  • Develop and execute the companys insurance strategy aligned with Team Zaks long-term business goals.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal state and regulatory insurance requirements.

  • Build lead and mentor high-performing insurance teams across underwriting claims and risk management functions.

  • Design and launch innovative insurance products that meet evolving market demands.

  • Establish underwriting guidelines pricing strategies and risk selection standards.

  • Monitor insurance portfolio performance profitability and loss ratios.

  • Partner with finance and executive leadership on forecasting budgeting and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Develop relationships with reinsurers brokers partners and regulatory bodies.

  • Implement technology and data analytics to enhance underwriting accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Lead crisis management and large-loss oversight when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Risk Management Insurance Business Finance or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).

  • 10 years of senior leadership experience in the insurance industry.

  • Strong expertise in underwriting strategy insurance operations and regulatory compliance.

  • Proven track record of building and scaling insurance programs or organizations.

  • Deep knowledge of property & casualty life health or specialty insurance markets (depending on company focus).

  • Strong leadership communication and strategic planning skills.

  • Professional certifications such as CPCU ARM or similar designations are a plus.
