Job Summary

The Protective Services Officer - 2 (PSO2) is an armed employee that is responsible for safeguarding the well-being and assets of employees guests and the Wynn Las Vegas property. A PSO2 must adhere to all company policies and procedures while upholding the Forbes Five-Star service standards and the Wynn Core Values and Behaviors. The primary responsibilities include screening all individuals and items at back-of-house entrance points reporting any suspicious occurrences and assisting with any security threats or emergencies.

Essential Duties

 

  • The position may require candidates to perform all essential functions associated with PSO1.
  • Responsible for the safety of executive personnel when assigned to the Wynn Executive Office.
  • Monitor guest and/or employee entry points to deter detect and intercept potential threats to WLV its guests and employees.
  • Respond to calls for service as requested by the Security Communications Center (SCC) management personnel or self-initiated observations. This includes but not limited to active assailant situations acts of violence or disturbances and major medical emergencies.
  • Advise patrons of the Wynn policies and appropriate solutions for their specific situation.
  • Interact with all individuals on Wynn property suspected to be in possession of prohibited items to determine whether they are in possession of these items.
  • Conduct searches of individuals whove been detained by any member of the security team.
  • Perform escorts for armed patrons outside contractors VIPs vendors and law enforcement personnel as necessary.
  • Maintain the company Forbes 5-star standards at all times for guests and employees.
  • Implement control procedures for authorized individuals to access back of house (BOH) locations.
  • Conduct a visual inspection of every individual and item entering their vicinity for potential threats and respond accordingly.
  • Monitor magnetometer (or handheld magnetometer) for the presence of metal indicating possible weapons to include knives electronic devices (such as Tasers) and firearms. 
  • Screen carry in items by conducting a physical search of bags and items inbound and outbound observe to detect weapons or contraband; confiscate restricted items when necessary or conduct appropriate check in process.
  • Monitor employee badge system while employees scan-in to property; respond and report to management when unauthorized individuals attempt to gain access to any BOH area.
  • Provide medical assistance to employees or guests in accordance with provided medical training.
  • Attend and pass sustainment development and mandatory quarterly training.
  • Maintain a state of security in area of operation and report any unusual activity to  the Security Communications Center (SCC) and/or management
  • Request escort assistance for any unauthorized personnel to gain access to BOH when approved by higher management.
  • Receive and log all Lost and Found items in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain shift activity logs and pass on pertinent information or information pertaining to ongoing incidents to the relieving officer at the completion of post.
  • Appropriately document all incidents in accordance with the security department guidelines to include voluntary statements and department specific incident/reporting requirements.
  • Remain in compliance with all Wynn policies and procedures and department specific guidelines.
  • May be required to assist civil and law enforcement authorities in administrative proceedings and provide voluntary statements in reference to involved incidents up to and including testimony in court.

Qualifications :

  • Four (4) years of military or law enforcement service is highly preferred OR four (4) years of relevant professional experience in an armed emergency response team position.
  • Must be able to pass pre-hire physical fitness test.
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required college graduate preferred.
  • Must be able to respond in a controlled demeanor during stressful incidents and potential life-threatening crisis situations.
  • Must successfully complete and pass each portion of the WLV training academy to include firearms application use of force defensive tactics verbal de-escalation handcuffing search procedures expandable baton CPR/AED/First Aid and emergency response protocols.
  • Must be able to remember and depict details of incidents in written and oral format.
  • The ideal candidate will currently possess a Nevada Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit or a HR 218 (Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act) card. Candidates who do not currently hold either of the certifications must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada CCW or HR 218 within six months of their hire date. Once obtained the CCW or HR 218 certification must not expire or be revoked.
  • Must be able to obtain and possess a valid Nevada Gaming Registration an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES) First Aid Basic Life Safety and CPR certifications.
  • Must successfully pass a hiring range evaluation and demonstrate safe firearm handling procedures and proficiency during required training/qualifications.
  • Must acquire a valid Nevada Drivers License upon employment.
  • Successfully pass a psychological evaluation that will be referred by the company.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work alone and within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently and professionally. Additional languages are helpful.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills along with a working knowledge of basic computer programs (Word Excel Outlook email etc.).
