The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and executing payroll for multiple business units ensuring accuracy compliance and addition to performing standard payroll processing duties this role serves as a subject matter expert providing advanced analysis reporting and guidance to internal stakeholders. The Payroll Specialist will lead initiatives to improve payroll accuracy efficiency and compliance while supporting audits system enhancements and complex payroll scenarios.

Your Mission:
Core Payroll
- Process detailed pay and leave calculations for salaried and hourly Team members.
- Collect validate and enter timekeeping information including hours worked overtime and time-off requests.
- Review and reconcile payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Calculate vacation payouts benefit premiums and complete Records of Employment for leaves and terminations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records including Team Member data pay rates accrual balances and tax information.
- Reconcile and remit payroll taxes and source deductions along with related filings.
- Balance payroll registers quarterly and annually to produce Team Member T4/T4A/RL-1 slips.
- Communicate with Team Members and People leaders regarding payroll documentation issues and corrective actions.
- Prepare and reconcile reports and remittances for Workers Compensation Employer Health Taxes and internal departments.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll data. Advanced
Compliance & Audits
- Conduct internal payroll audits ensure adherence to complex legislative requirements and support external audits.
System Optimization
- Configure and troubleshoot payroll systems (e.g. UKG Pro) implement automation and lead upgrades.
Analytics & Reporting
- Develop advanced payroll reports for leadership analyze trends and provide insights for decision-making
Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies recommend best practices and document new procedures.
Advisory Role
- Act as a payroll subject matter expert for HR Finance and business leaders; mentor coordinators.
Complex Calculations
- Handle executive compensation taxable benefits retroactive adjustments and multi-province payroll scenarios.
Project Participation
- Lead payroll-related projects such as system integrations or compliance initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Responsible to report any patient safety information as per adverse event reporting requirements and product quality complaints reporting requirements.
- Other duties as required.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Experience: 7 years in payroll with multi-province complexity and large Team Member base.
- Education: PCP required; CPM designation preferred.
- Skills:
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in payroll systems (UKG Pro) Excel (pivot tables VLOOKUP macros) and reporting tools.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of federal/provincial legislation tax rules and benefits administration.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical ability project management experience and ability to influence stakeholders.
- English proficiency is required for this position to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingualism (French and English) may be required depending on the specific role location and the needs of the organization.
