Senior Research Assistant ()
The Academy is inviting applications for one position as a Senior Research Assistant for a research project examining how smartphones influence body image beauty standards and self-perception among young adults in Hong particular the project explores the impact of AI-driven automatic and autonomous image enhancement features on smartphones.
Responsibilities:
- Design ethnographic research methods for the project;
- Collect and analyse data for the project;
- Conduct information and literature searches for the Principal Investigator;
- Arrange and assist the Principal Investigator with fieldwork in Hong Kong;
- Coordinate with internal and external parties for the project;
- Contribute to the writing and preparation of academic publications and reports; and
- Take up administrative duties as necessary.
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree or above in Anthopology or related disciplines; applicant with a masters degree or PhD in Anthropology with a focus in visual and digital anthropology or related disciplines and fieldwork experience will be considered an advantage;
- Knowledge and experiences of doing qualitative interviews and field observations;
- A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
- Responsible independent and detail oriented.

The initial appointment will be offered on a contract of 12 months starting in May 2026. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and fund availability.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
