About the Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive Collections Officer to join our Finance team. This role plays an important part in supporting the financial health of the firm by managing outstanding debtor balances and working collaboratively with our Principals and practice teams to ensure timely collections.

This position would suit someone with experience in accounts receivable credit control or collections particularly within a professional services or legal environment who enjoys building strong relationships while confidently managing debtor outcomes.

The Collections Officer is responsible for the effective management of the firms debtor portfolio. You will work closely with Principals fee earners and the Finance team to support timely cash flow while maintaining positive client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up outstanding invoices to support timely debt collection.
  • Monitor aged debtor accounts and prioritise collection activity.
  • Liaise with Principals fee earners and clients to resolve billing queries and payment issues.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and escalate complex or overdue matters where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activity and prepare debtor reporting.
  • Support month-end processes relating to debtors and cash collections.
  • Contribute to improvements in collections processes reporting and internal controls.

About You

You are a confident communicator who can balance commercial awareness with professionalism and client care. Youre organised resilient and comfortable working with multiple stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable credit control or collections ideally within a professional services environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage sensitive or difficult conversations in a calm and professional manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Strong Microsoft Office capability particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using financial or legal practice management systems (desirable)
  • Completion of Year 12 with a Diploma or Degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline considered advantageous
