Job Summary
Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in the Department of Geography
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Department of Geography as a Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our laboratories contribute to the successful completion of various research projects and support teaching and learning activities.
The Role:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of wet labs in the department.
- Adjusting calibrating and ensuring the proper function of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Providingtechnicalsupport to faculty members researchers and students in the use of laboratory equipment and instruments for teaching learning and research.
- Assisting in field trips and lab work as per request of faculty members.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of lab equipment and research findings.
- Assisting in the procurement of new equipment.
- Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Continuously updating knowledge of relevant technologies and industry best practices to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of our laboratories.
Qualifications and Qualities:
- A good Bachelors degree preferably in Geography Environmental Science or a related field; a Masters degree is highly desirable.
- Not less than 2 years of experience in a similar role; candidates with less experience may be considered for theTechnicalOfficer position.
- Demonstrated expertise in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Chinese and English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Competency in computer data handling and management.
- Possession of valid driving licenses for private cars (Class 1) and light goods vehicles (Class 2) is an advantage.
What We Offer:The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
