JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Director Finance Hong Kong Macau Taiwan Hainan who reports to both RVP and VP Operations Finance provides financial leadership in achieving profit and key performance goal while further enhancing owners and franchise relationship in the Region. Partners with the regional team and RVP to help make optimal business decisions for the region. Provides astrategic perspective and uses sound financial skills and business acumen to identify profitable opportunities anticipate challenges and create competitive breakthrough strategies while ensuring a controlled financial environment and protecting and strengthening Marriotts competitive advantage.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent required.
  • 10 years of progressive financial management experience.
  • Able to read and speak in Chinese (Mandarin) and English.

Preferred

  • Experience evaluating business trends and developing and successfully implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance financial performance in a complex multidimensional operating environment.
  • Experience in owner relations.
  • Experience with complex operating and financial agreements; demonstrated success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies and plans to mitigate business issues.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Support RVP to achieve annual goals and targets to ensure profitability and revenue growth for the responsible region.
  • Acts as strategic business partner to the RVP & rest of the Regional team. Provides financial leadership and strategic perspective in developing and monitoring business plans to achieve profit and growth objectives for the Regional; identifies profitable opportunities manages business risk and helps make optimal business decisions. Supports and advises the RVP Finance and the Regional management team (GMs DOFs) on key operating/financial issues; helps enhance the teams financial and business skills. Facilitates the Regions business planning processes (LRP operating and capital budgets forecast risk assessment) standard reporting processes (working capital month end reporting annual statement of operations etc.) and compliance with local tax financial and accounting regulations. Provides direction support and ensures compliance on balance sheet analysis/certification hotel audits and internal control standards P&L reviews cash flow forecasts technical accounting financial systems & reporting and financial analysis (pro forma project analysis business cases etc.).
  • Leads the execution of finance and accounting responsibilities for the Region across multiple sovereign jurisdictions and in different currencies: budgeting and forecasting controls financial analysis cash management balance sheet financial reporting & systems P&L CAPEX owner returns financial risk management.
  • Implements appropriate metrics and controls to manage business risks; ensure strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets improve operations profitability and ROIC.
  • Ensures strong owner relationships in the Region. Understands the owners perspective & ROI expectations proactively anticipates and addresses needs; manages an effective balance between the owners and MIs interests developing solutions that creates value for conjunction with the regional leadership team pulls in resources as appropriate tohelp resolve owner relations/contract issues as well as ad hoc division and exception operating issues (Business Support Global Asset Management etc.). Directly involved in meetings for key priority hotels and ventrally accounted hotels.
  • Is accountable for compliance with contract and reporting requirements. Ensures that GMs and RDOFs are familiar with the management contract and structure of the deal and in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Works with corporate and regional team to ensure smooth hotel opening process; works with the RVP and the property team on the development of pre-opening and working capital budgets and other pre-opening activities relating to finance and accounting
