- This is not an hourly position. The Student Employee will be paid at the end of the semester when the supervisor issues payment.
- This position is paid via a stipend of $400
- If all requirements are met:
- Attend all meetings as required with SGA advisor.
- No meetings should be missed by executive board members unless excused by SGA advisor President or Chief of Staff within 24 hours in advance.
- Executive Board Members must attend all events unless excused by SGA Advisor President or Chief of Staff at least 24 hours in advance.
- There must always be at least two Executive Board members at all SGA Events
Evaluation Period:Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester
Purpose:
The Secretary of the Student Government Association serves as the official record-keeper and administrative coordinator of the organization. The Secretary ensures transparency organization and continuity by accurately documenting meetings maintaining official records and managing internal communications. Through efficient administrative support the Secretary upholds institutional memory and promotes accountability within Student Government.
The SGA Secretary is responsible for:
- Upholding and enforcing the provisions of the Constitution
- Assist in making immediate necessary decisions concerning the Student Government
- Assist in resolving any disputes over the interpretation of the Constitution with advice from the SGA Advisor
- Attend all meetings of the Student Government Association
- Assist in approving stipends for the elected SGA members
- Have the right to call meetings to order between the Executive Board and Committee chairs as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Record attendance and minutes of meetings and actions of the General Assembly
- Send out meeting minutes to the student body meeting attendees general assembly and student organizations as needed
- Organize the archive of SGA documents and ensure that all documents are placed in the correct files
- Support the tracking of annual re-registration of SGA recognized student organizations in collaboration with the Executive Board and Advisor(s)
- Continually ensure each SGA reorganized student organization is in good standing with SGA.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student currently enrolled at Mount St. Joseph University
- Must maintain and uphold a 2.5 GPA semesterly
- Must be in good standing with Mount St. Joseph University
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work on own initiative independently and meet deadlines
- Well organized punctual and reliable
- The ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully both orally and in writing with individuals at all levels within the University
