This individual will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day Quality administrative tasks within AHK Rustenburg in order to meet the overall objectives of analytical services within Alfred H Knight South Africa.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Laboratory management with the maintenance of ISO 17025 accreditation as required by the laboratory
- Assisting with the management and control of the standardised AHK QMS relevant accreditation publications ISO standards quality manual and its supporting documentation
- Ensuring that the audit schedule is maintained and up to date and supporting the internal audit team and Group Audit Programme with the scheduling of audits the distribution and close-out of improvement actions and non-conformances in relation to Laboratory focused audits
- Monitoring close-out of Corrective Actions Non-conformances and Client complaints TAT
- Ensuring that sufficient documentation and records are maintained for all the non-conforming test work complaints preventive action and improvements
- Ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods and procedures. It is the post holders responsibility to inform the Senior Chemist Technical and the Quality Manager of any failure in compliance with the companys operating practices and policies
- Assisting in the coordination of a standardised Laboratory Document Control System ensuring sufficient documented records are maintained
- Ensuring that the asset register is updated at all times
- Assisting when required in PTS/RR programmes as directed by the Senior Chemist Technical and ensure reporting deadlines are met and Z-scores are updated timeously
- Taking part in regular quality focused meetings with relevant personnel to ensure that operational issues are discussed and rectified as soon as possible and for keeping all relevant personnel informed of serious and/or developing quality issues
- Assist with scheduling of Management review meetings preparation of in-put data and completing minutes of the review meeting and monitor the closing of all the actions raised during the Management review meeting
- Participating in quality risk review meetings and ensure that the Risk Register is updated in consultation with the Senior Chemist-Technical
- Undertaking other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Laboratory Management and the Quality Manager
Required Competencies
- Functional knowledge and understanding of QMS practice within a laboratory setting
- Functional knowledge of and understanding of the requirements pertaining to ISO 17025:2017
- Functional knowledge and understanding of accreditation requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate
- High attention to detail
- Team player
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Good timekeeping
- Good level of computer literacy
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 (with Maths Chemistry and Science)
- Analytical Chemistry Diploma or other appropriate Tertiary Qualification
Required work experience
- Proven experience of at least 2 years experience in a quality position preferably in a commercial laboratory
- Experience in supporting QMS requirements in relation to ISO 17025 accreditation
- Experience using Microsoft Office and Google suite of applications
- Desirable but not essential; experience of the metals and minerals industries including basic chemistry knowledge and laboratory skills
