  • This is not an hourly position. The Student Employee will be paid at the end of the semester when the supervisor issues payment.
  • This position is paid via a stipend of $250
  • If all requirements are met:
    • Attend all meetings as required with SGA advisor.
    • No meetings should be missed by executive board members unless excused by SGA advisor President or Chief of Staff within 24 hours in advance.
    • Executive Board Members must attend all events unless excused by SGA Advisor President or Chief of Staff at least 24 hours in advance.
    • There must always be at least two Executive Board members at all SGA Events

Evaluation Period:Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester

Purpose:

The Vice President of Academic & Career Excellence advances initiatives that promote academic success intellectual growth and professional development. This position advocates for student academic interests strengthens collaboration with faculty and academic departments and supports career readiness opportunities. The VP ensures that Student Government prioritizes policies and programs that enhance students educational and post-graduate success.

The SGA Vice President of Academic and Career Excellence is responsible for:

  • Uphold and enforce the provisions of the Constitution
  • Assist in making immediate necessary decisions concerning the Student Government
  • Assist in resolving any disputes over the interpretation of the Constitution with advice from the SGA Advisor
  • Attend all meetings of the Student Government Association
  • Assist in approving stipends for the elected SGA members
  • Have the right to call meetings to order between the Executive Board and Committee chairs as necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison between students faculty and academic administration.
  • Advocate for academic policy improvements and student academic resources.
  • Collaborate with Career Services to promote internships networking events and job readiness programs.
  • Lead initiatives focused on academic success tutoring and mentorship.
  • Collect and present student feedback on curriculum advising and academic support services.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled at Mount St. Joseph University
  • Must maintain and uphold a 2.5 GPA semesterly
  • Must be in good standing with Mount St. Joseph University

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on own initiative independently and meet deadlines
  • Well organized punctual and reliable
  • The ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully both orally and in writing with individuals at all levels within the University
