Job Summary

JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the financial and management accounting functions and support to the Saldanha Operations (including vessel fleet factories and support services) which inform sound strategic decision making required to optimise the performance and achieve the goals of the SA Fishing business.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Manage efficient and timeous forecasting and planning:

  • Coordinate and compile operational budgets and forecasts
  • Coordinate and compile CAPEX budgets and forecasts including business motivations supported by business cases

Provide timeous and accurate financial and management reports:

  • Manage month-end closure processes
  • Manage the collation of timeous and accurate operational and financial data
  • Prepare professional financial and management reports and analyses with commentary

Monitor efficient operational capital expenditure and project cost control:

  • Ensure internal control systems are maintained according to best practice
  • Review and report on actual performance to budgets and forecasts (variance analyses)
  • Collaborate with senior operations management on operational and capex cost containment and efficiency improvements

Manage efficient financial and operations support

  • Manage fish quota reporting and reconciliations
  • Manage delivery of accurate operational (including remuneration) data
  • Manage the Products Masterfile and costing philosophy (BOMs)

Provide leadership and manage the team effectively

  • Attract develop and retain a high-performance team
  • Manage teams performance focused on achieving business goals

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • BCom CA(SA) and/or ACMA
  • At least 10 years experience in a similar role
  • Good computer literacy and numeric ability
  • Deadline driven
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of key business processes and practices
  • Demonstrates influencing skills
  • Analytical and good problem-solving ability
  • Accurate with strong attention to detail
  • Methodical and meticulous
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to filter information and assess priorities.
  • Articulate and self-confident.
  • Professional credible and highly motivated
