Job Summary
Karara Mining Limited (KML)is an Ansteel Group company. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton Western Australia Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity
Weare looking for an experiencedLaboratoryTechnicianto join our Metallurgy team based at the Karara mine Technician is responsible for routine and non-routine laboratory work that includes sampling analysis measuring recording and interpreting results to meet deadlines and quality requirements.
This position operates on an8 days on 6 days off and7 nights on 7 nights off roster
To be successful in the role the following is essential:
- Proven knowledge and experience in chemical or metallurgical laboratory settings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Valid WA C Class Drivers License
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication abilities and aptitude for building professional relationships
- Australian citizenship or a valid permanent work visa
- Current National Police Clearance
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification in metallurgy or a relevant science discipline
- Experience working in mining or other heavy industry laboratories
- Familiarity with both metallurgical and chemical laboratory techniques
- Experience with XRF analysis
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Metallurgical industry experience

Key Duties:
- Conduct laboratory tests and procedures including sample preparation XRF operation sizing sampling and metallurgical analyses
- Execute tasks in both chemical and metallurgical laboratories
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the sample preparation and analytical laboratories
- Plan daily workloads effectively to ensure timely turnaround of results
- Demonstrate exemplary safety behavior and lead by example
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with all internal and external departments and stakeholders at KML
