Location: Remote ( Washington DC) Note: some travel to DC region for Occasional meetings will be required

Task Description:
- Implements database designs that may include setup (creating tables columns data types constraints).
- Ensures that databases are available and always running error free.
- Monitors databases to ensure that their security.
- Patches and updates databases.
- Resolves issues related to database accessibility and performance.
- Informs end users about changes in the databases and trains them to use the systems.
Required skills/Level of Experience:
This role is responsible for database administration performance tuning security availability backup and recovery and ongoing operational support in a regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Oracle database administration and a solid understanding of cloud-hosted environments database security and lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer monitor and maintain Oracle SQL Server database environments supporting cloud-based applications in AWS GovCloud.
- Ensure database availability performance integrity and security across development test and production environments.
- Perform database installation configuration patching upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Manage backup recovery disaster recovery and data restoration processes.
- Monitor database health and performance identify bottlenecks and implement tuning improvements.
- Support database security user access roles privileges and compliance with security requirements and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain database maintenance procedures operational documentation and standards.
- Collaborate with application developers engineers and infrastructure teams to support releases deployments and issue resolution.
- Support Agile DevSecOps processes including change management release support and environment readiness.
- Use tools such as Jira and GitLab to support work tracking change coordination and deployment activities.
- Ensure database configurations changes and related artifacts are properly documented and controlled.
- Support audit readiness compliance activities and ongoing operational sustainment in a regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3--5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a related database operations role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle SQL Server database administration.
- Experience supporting databases in AWS GovCloud or other cloud-hosted environments.
- Experience with database backup and recovery performance tuning patching and upgrade activities.
- Strong understanding of database security access controls and operational best practices.
- Experience supporting production database environments in regulated or enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with Agile DevSecOps practices and deployment support processes.
- Experience with Jira and GitLab or similar tools.
- Strong troubleshooting analytical and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with developers system engineers security teams and other stakeholders.
