Temporary Summer Grounds Maintenance
Purpose Statement
The position of the Temporary Summer Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building.
Job Title: Temporary Summer Grounds Maintenance
Hourly Wage: $16.00/hour
Time Frame: Summer Term
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate
- Ability to operate machinery including lawn mower hedge trimmer gas-powered leaf blower tractor.
- Basic understanding of machinery.
- Must be able to lift/push approximately 50 lbs.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively with supervisor and other crew members.
- Tolerance for temperature variances and ability to work outdoors.
Essential Functions
- Works under the direction of a supervisor to landscape and maintains school property
- Performs scheduled lawn mowing trimming weeding repair and reseeding of damaged lawn areas
- Plants and maintains trees and shrubs
- Rakes and disposes of leaves and other yard waste
- Maintains driveway playground area and athletic fields
- Keeps grounds free of litter
- Maintains tools and equipment
- May remove debris from driveways walkways and parking lots
- Uses precaution and care incorporating safe work practices into daily work
- Follows directions and assignments of supervisor
Working Environment
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing reaching driving standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Successful candidates are subject to post-offer pre-employment physical.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organizations services.
