The Multi-Craft Manufacturing Mechanic is responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of manufacturing equipment and systems. This role requires expertise across multiple trades including mechanical electrical hydraulic pneumatic and basic PLC systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities
Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required
- Technical certification or associate degree preferred
Experience:
- 35 years of hands-on experience in a multi-craft maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems electrical wiring PLCs hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience with automated equipment including robotics and PLC-controlled machinery is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of production equipment such as motors Viking mechanical pumps ARO diaphragm pumps conveyors compressors chillers liquid filling machines automatic cappers and labelers (Videojet Quadrel Tronics).
- Electrical expertise including reading schematics wiring control circuits working with 480V 3-phase systems PLCs (Allen Bradley) VFDs and understanding basic electrical code compliance.
- Ability to use hand and power tools diagnostic equipment and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues quickly and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently collaborate across departments and provide guidance or training to junior maintenance staff.
Technology/Software:
- Proficient in MS Suite
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance documentation.
Communication:
- Outstanding communication analytical problem-solving decision-making prioritization and organization skills.
Physical Capabilities
- Strength: Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs.
- Movement: Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight-hour shift. Occasional bending crouching and crawling
- Hearing: Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud distracting environment
- Vision: Must be able to judge distance identify details and view computer screen regularly

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including liquid filling equipment bearings gears sprockets precision alignments and perform fabrication welding as needed.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including pumps cylinders valves and associated mounting equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures conduct root-cause analysis and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Follow manufacturer manuals blueprints schematics and work instructions to guide repairs and installations.
- Install align and test new machinery and equipment.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Provide support during audits by ensuring equipment documentation and maintenance records are up to date.
- Assist in training junior maintenance staff and sharing technical knowledge across departments.
