You will be responsible for leading sorting and automation initiatives for the design of new processes and standards as well as assisting local teams in implementing these standards. Your primary focus will be on optimizing parcel sorting processes across various sites throughout Europe ensuring efficiency cost-effectiveness safety quality and seamless integration with existing operations. This role requires a combination of strategic planning project management technical expertise and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design:
- Design and adapt sorters and technologies to suit the specific requirements of each market and building.
- Collaborate with country Chief Operating Officers (COOs) to gather requirements for automation projects.
- Propose/initiate technological initiatives aimed at improving work in the area of operations (improvement of standards / quality / safety / work efficiency / throughput of individual workstations / process optimization) in collaboration with ExOps/Lean team for process.
- Manage the creation of 2D/3D layouts for new projects and validate them with Operations teams.
- Define new Group standards.
- ROI Analysis:
- Conduct simulations to evaluate Return on Investment (ROI) for each automation project considering local processes and labor costs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented initiatives.
- Project Management:
- Manage project with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee site installation address facility manager questions to ensure smooth implementation of automation systems if local team can not manage.
- Develop comprehensive project plans including implementation steps timelines required resources and allocated budgets.
- Prepare monthly reports providing updates on project progress financial performance and key metrics.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct acceptance tests and follow-up on any necessary corrections to ensure the functionality and quality of installed systems.
- Procurement:
- Collaborate with the Groups purchasing department on calls for tenders and orders for sorters or automation equipment assisting them with technical aspects.
- Create or adapt the tender documents when needed.
- Assist Legal team with technical aspect for contract preparation.
- Supplier and Technology Evaluation:
- Regularly evaluate potential new suppliers and emerging technologies relevant to automation in the parcel delivery industry.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Automation or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Proven experience in automation project management preferably within the logistics or parcel delivery sector.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing supplier relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to assess ROI and optimize processes.
- Experience in budget management and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with emerging automation technologies and trends.
- Fluency in English written and spoken is mandatory. Italian Spanish or French are a plus.
- Ability to travel regularly within Europe for site visits and supplier meetings.
