The Senior Engineering Manager will build and scale a managerofmanagers layer and a reusable engineering platform across five teams in Valencia enabling rapid secure and maintainable delivery of a new business banking product. This role combines people leadership (hiring coaching performance calibration) with handson ownership of engineering standards platform architecture and delivery practices in a regulated banking context.

yourresponsibilities:

• Lead and grow a managerofmanagers layer: hire coach and develop founding Engineering Managers and create clear career pathways across the Valencia site.
• Own the engineering operating system: establish and enforce standards for code review testing CI/CD architecture review observability and incident handling.
• Drive multiteam delivery from discovery through MVP and production hardening resolving crossteam dependencies and maintaining release discipline.
• Build a modular reusable businessbanking platform that accelerates future use cases and reduces duplicated implementation effort.
• Ensure service reliability performance security auditability and operational readiness for customerfacing mobile and backend systems.
• Partner with Product Design Security Architecture and Compliance to align priorities and deliver customer value.
• Represent Valencia engineering in sitebuilding talent planning and leadership alignment with the Head of Valencia.

• Proven experience as a manager of managers directly leading and developing multiple Engineering Managers across teams.
• Demonstrable track record of multiteam product engineering leadership (not only project/delivery management).
• Concrete examples of hiring performance management and building quality systems (scorecards calibration promotion decisions).
• Credible engineering depth: experience making technical tradeoffs influencing architecture and explaining technical decisions to engineers and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Handson experience with engineering standards and platforms: CI/CD rollout automated testing observability and incident response processes.
• Experience operating within regulated environments (security compliance audit readiness) or equivalent domain experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to create psychological safety and coach managers.
• Fluent in English; Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) Kubernetes and containerised deployments (nice-to-have).
• Familiarity with CI tooling (GitLab/GitHub Actions Jenkins) observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana tracing) and mobile stacks (Kotlin/Swift or React Native) (nice-to-have).
