Job Summary

Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location:Haymarket VA
Duration: 16 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift Timing: 07:30 AM 03:00 PM Monday Friday

Job Description

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating diagnosing and providing treatment for students with speech language communication and swallowing disorders. The SLP works within an elementary school setting to support students in improving communication skills that are essential for academic success and social development. This role collaborates closely with teachers school staff parents and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech language cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in students.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and student needs.

  • Provide speech and language therapy services to students with articulation language fluency voice and communication disorders.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed to achieve educational and developmental goals.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations treatment sessions progress notes and reports in accordance with school and state guidelines.

  • Collaborate with teachers special education staff psychologists occupational therapists and other professionals to support student development.

  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting.

  • Provide guidance and education to parents and school staff on communication strategies and therapy techniques.

  • Ensure compliance with school district policies state regulations and professional standards.

  • Support students social communication skills to enhance classroom participation and peer interaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.

  • Active Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state of Virginia.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.

  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates may be considered.

  • Knowledge of speech and language evaluation tools and therapy techniques.

  • Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary educational team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in school-based settings particularly with elementary-aged students.

  • Experience supporting students with speech delays articulation disorders language disorders or developmental communication challenges.

  • Familiarity with IEP documentation and school-based therapy services.

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) or student documentation systems.
