Middle School English Teacher

Charlotte Latin School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School English Teacher to join our faculty beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time 10-month position offers the opportunity to ignite students curiosity.

Our Middle School English curriculum includes reading comprehension and analytical abilities composition skills grammar and vocabulary. The ideal candidate will bring a student-centered approach to the classroom fostering critical thinking creativity and a lifelong love of reading and writing.

Responsibilities include:

• Teach four sections of Middle School English two preparations
• Serve as a Middle School advisor to approximately 12 Middle School students
• Work collaboratively and effectively with peers in support of student achievement and curriculum development
• Within course teams collaborate with colleagues toward consistency in grading practices
• Assess students performance and provide feedback in a timely and consistent manner
• Attend department division and grade-level meetings
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field
• Commitment to academic excellence interdisciplinary and experiential learning and advancing the mission core values and strategic plan of the school
• Perform other related duties such as club advisor recess supervisor carpool class trip etc. as required and assigned by the Head of Middle School

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in English Education or a related field is required; Masters degree preferred
• Experience teaching English; Middle School experience preferred

Working Conditions and Environment

• Intermittently lift carry push and pull up to 25 pounds.
• Continuously see sit balance grasp and have repetitive use of arms wrists hands and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
• Frequently talk and hear.
• Intermittently stand stoop bend twist crouch kneel crawl walk climb stairs step stools and ladders operate foot and hand controls squeeze and reach above shoulders.
• Exposure to dust chemicals fumes flammables grease dirt stacked materials electrical equipment machinery low to medium noise levels and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
