A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation within the defence and advanced technology sector is seeking a Machine Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design development and improvement of specialised machinery and mechanical systems used in high-precision manufacturing environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical machines assemblies and components from concept through to production.
Produce detailed 3D models engineering drawings and design documentation.
Perform design calculations tolerance analysis and material selection.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including manufacturing electrical and project engineering.
Support prototype development testing and commissioning of machines.
Identify opportunities to improve machine performance reliability and manufacturability.
Ensure designs comply with engineering standards safety requirements and quality specifications.
Provide technical support during fabrication assembly and installation phases.

Minimum Requirements

BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years experience in machine design within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles materials and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor Creo or similar).
Experience with design calculations tolerance stack-ups and mechanical systems integration.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
