Job Summary
Our client based in Sandton is looking for an Azure Data Engineer to join their team. 12-month contract is renewable.
Technical Competencies
Microsoft Technologies (Core)
Azure Synapse (Spark SQL Delta tables)
Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines mapping data flows orchestration patterns
Azure Data Lake / Fabric OneLake
Fabric Warehouse Lakehouse EventHouse (KQL)
SSIS (advantage)
Data Streaming (EventHub IoT)
SQL (T-SQL) Stored Procedures
Other Technologies (Advantage)
Python PySpark
Databricks
Spark Structured Streaming
Parquet/Delta
Event-driven systems (EventHub Kafka)

Fabric Lakehouse EventHouse

Build and maintain semantic models (Power BI Desktop Service Fabric)
Work with Fabric modelling tools.
Create dashboards and reports across Power BI Fabric Excel.
Perform trend analysis KPI development time intelligence data storytelling.
Non-Technical Skills
Strong stakeholder influence and confidence in presenting technical solutions.
Ability to break down complex or vague requirements into clear deliverables.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Ability to coach team members and lead collaborative solution design.
Strong problem-solving debugging and optimisation mindset.
Structured thinking ownership mentality and adherence to standards.
Education and Experience
Essential:
5 years of consistent experience in the listed core competency areas.
Advantageous:
BSc Computer Science or equivalent 3 year qualification
