Dealer Development Manager (Permanent) Sandton
A leading organisation in the automotive sector is seeking an experienced Dealer Development Manager to drive the strategic expansion development and optimisation of its dealer network across South Africa.
This role is responsible for identifying and onboarding new dealerships strengthening existing dealer relationships ensuring compliance with brand standards and supporting network performance to align with business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Dealer Network Development
- Develop and implement strategies to expand and optimise the national dealer network.
- Conduct market research and market viability assessments to identify potential dealer locations.
- Identify evaluate and appoint new dealerships in strategic markets.
- Manage the dealer appointment process including proposals approvals LOIs and dealer agreements.
- Support dealer relocation projects facility upgrades and compliance with corporate identity (CI) standards.
- Conduct regular dealer network audits and performance reviews.
Dealer Relationship and Performance Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dealer principals and dealership leadership teams.
- Conduct regular dealer visits to assess operational performance and brand compliance.
- Monitor dealer performance metrics and guide to improve operational efficiency.
- Support dealers in improving showroom layouts after-sales processes and customer engagement strategies.
- Address dealer concerns and facilitate conflict resolution where required.
Operational and Compliance Management
- Ensure dealer adherence to brand standards operational guidelines and facility requirements.
- Conduct scheduled dealer audits and drive corrective action where required.
- Support the negotiation and implementation of dealer agreements and contractual obligations.
- Work closely with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Manage the renewal or termination process of dealer agreements when required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key liaison between the organisation and the dealer network.
- Collaborate with sales marketing after-sales finance and senior leadership teams.
- Provide regular insights and reports on dealer network performance and market trends.
- Build strong relationships with investors and key industry stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Marketing Management Business Administration Public Relations or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years experience in the retail automotive industry.
- Proven experience in dealer network development dealership operations or automotive sales management.
- Experience in project management business development or network expansion.
- Demonstrated experience in dealer performance management and operational optimisation.
- Experience with market analysis contract negotiation and compliance management.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of automotive dealership operations and network planning.
- Knowledge of corporate identity standards and dealership compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
