Job Summary
- Location: 201 E. Grover St Shelby NC 28150
- Facility Details:
- 241 licensed beds
- Level 3 Trauma Center
- Certified Chest Pain Center & Stroke Center
- Not a teaching hospital
- Unit Information:
- 32 bed PCU
- Minimum 18 months PCU RN experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Patient Population/Diagnoses:
- Patients not requiring mechanical ventilation
- Common cases: CHF dysrhythmia chest pain stroke abdominal illnesses/infections respiratory illness diabetes AKI/CKD ETOH withdrawal IVDA etc.
- Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:4 (most common) up to 1:5 depending on acuity
- Licensure & Certifications Required:
- Active RN license
- BLS ACLS NIHSS
- Required Skills:
- Tracheostomy care
- Cardiac drips/gtt experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Chest tube management
- Blood product administration
- Wound care/dressing changes
- Central line management
- Department Support:
- CNA for ADLs
- Receptionist/HUC (days only)
- Charge nurse support
- Phlebotomy (except nurse draws)
- IV/VAT team
- 24/7 RT Hospitalist Intensivist
- Telemetry monitoring (bedside & nurse station)
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Floating:
- Required within the region and scope of practice
- May float to Cleveland Kings Mountain Lincoln CMC Main Mercy LCH as needed
- Paid for travel time if floating mid-shift
- Orientation:
- NEO (New Employee Orientation)
- 2 days departmental orientation
- Scheduling:
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call requirement
- Must work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays); must extend contract to meet hours if necessary
- 6-week schedule cycles
