Working at The Preservation Society of Newport County offers you the opportunity to work for an organization that preserves protects and presents 13 historic properties and landscapes in Newport Rhode Island. As part of the team you have an opportunity to help preserve and maintain a cultural historical and the social treasures of Newport Rhode Island.
The Preservation Society of Newport County is hiring part-time and seasonal Special Events Coat Check Attendants to work a variety of hours including a mixture of week and weekend days and evenings.
Coat Check Attendants greet guests and take check coats hats during events taking place at our Newport Mansions properties.
Event season roughly matches tourism season (April-October) though scheduled events do exceed this range. Work shifts during the tourism season range from early morning to late night up to seven days a week. Work shifts from November through March are mainly weekends.
- Assist with greeting guests upon arrival and checking coats issuing coat tag. Reverse the process at the end of the evening as guests depart.
- Assist with the successful operation of events by watching over the checked coat area throughout the event.
- Answer questions from guests or vendors or direct to appropriate staff for correct information.
- Perform periodic check of Ladies Room to ensure the space is tidy and stocked as needed with supplies. Report any issues to Event Supervisor as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required or directed.
Requirements
The desirable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly with and professionally with guests vendors and PSNC staff.
- Ability to read count and write legibly to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to work independently and flexibly as well as a part of a team.
- Follow prescribed safety heath rules regulations and practices.
- Lifting requirements of 25-30 pounds on an occasional basis.
