Food Safety Quality Assurance Coordinator

Job Summary:

The FSQA Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with key regulatory and food safety programs including USDA regulations HACCP SQF sanitation and pest control.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager with dotted-line reporting to the Director of FSQA at the Delphi plant. The Coordinator will provide regular updates on the status of all FSQA programs at the Frankfort facility.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain compliance with the sites HACCP plan including daily record reviews pre-shipment documentation and ongoing HACCP data management.
  • Monitor enforce and document compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Verify the effectiveness of the sanitation program through pre-operational inspections and oversight of the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Conduct and oversee microbial testing of products and food contact surfaces.
  • Develop implement and oversee quality audits for incoming raw materials and finished products.
  • Provide training resources and ongoing support to employees performing FSQA-related tasks.
  • Ensure site compliance with SQF requirements and lead internal SQF audits.
  • Coordinate services with the third-party pest control provider and review and assess service reports for compliance.
  • Prepare and present weekly reports outlining FSQA performance metrics and trends.
  • Maintain flexibility to work alternative hours or shifts as needed to observe and support operations across all shifts.
  • Train employees on HACCP principles and procedures to enhance awareness and compliance.
  • All employees are expected to adhere to their scheduled working hours and attend work consistently to ensure smooth operations and effective teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in food science animal science microbiology or a related technical field. Experience in USDA protein facility preferred.
  • HACCP Certification and Experience working in a SQF or BRC certified facilities preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and leaders while maintaining confidence and mutual respect.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Resourceful and self-motivated
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required and experience with food safety management software preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold hot and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather heat and humidity and exposure to dust.

Physical Demand:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position will at times lift heavy objects walk stand and sits for long periods of time and may perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts pushes pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand hand with arms and fingers two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.
