The Pre-K Paraprofessional at KIPP Kansas City plays a vital role in supporting the development and learning of young children in the classroom. This position is designed to assist the Pre-K teacher in providing a nurturing and engaging environment where children can explore learn and grow. The Pre-K Paraprofessional will work closely with students to promote their social emotional and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
- Assist the Pre-K teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during instructional time reinforcing learning concepts and skills.
- Help create a stimulating and organized classroom environment that fosters exploration and curiosity.
Behavioral Support:
- Support students in developing social skills and managing their emotions through positive reinforcement and guidance.
- Assist in implementing classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the Pre-K teacher to address individual student needs and support their behavioral and emotional growth.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with the Pre-K teacher regarding student progress challenges and successes.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support student learning and development.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma (required).
- Associates degree or completion of 60 college credit hours (preferred) or
- Passed the ParaPro Assessment (before September 23 2013) or
- Passed the Paraprofessional Assessement through Pearson (between September 23 2013 through June 20 2024) or
- Passed the ParaPro Assessment through ETS (July 1 2024 forward) or
- Completed the 20hours Substitute Certified Course
- Experience working with students with disabilities and in a school setting
