The Business Information Systems Analyst performs advanced systems analysis and operational support for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution used in the public sector. This role collaborates with school and central office personnel to assess data processing and reporting needs coordinates functional ERP processes and administers system user security. The position leads and supports major functional areas such as Payroll and Time and Attendance while providing cross-functional system support and technical leadership.
Supervision
Work is performed under the general supervision of senior leadership within Budget Grants and Business Information Systems. Established policies and procedures guide the work and most decisions are made independently. The position may supervise lower-level specialists and provides ongoing technical guidance to project team members.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This is an advanced-level systems analyst position distinguished by increased responsibility subject-matter expertise and leadership expectations. The role requires independent judgment project coordination and functional leadership within major ERP modules.
Essential Functions

Support and lead one or more major ERP functional areas such as Time and Attendance and Payroll.

Serve as lead for Payroll system support and provide functional assistance as needed.

Administer user security menu maintenance patch management and application upgrades.

Prepare and maintain reports; manage user access and security controls; test and apply system patches.

Oversee application upgrades from testing through production deployment.

Collaborate with functional owners to identify and resolve data inaccuracies.

Develop error reports documentation and user procedures to support data correction and prevention.

Respond to ad hoc information requests from users.

Lead team members in creating informational reports and presentations.

Provide technical direction review work for accuracy and completeness and monitor project progress.

Consult with user groups to define informational needs identify data sources and design reports and related tools.

Assist with workgroup management responsibilities including budget planning professional development planning and coordination of system updates.

Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Advanced knowledge of enterprise application systems particularly in finance payroll or human resources environments.

Strong understanding of system security administration and user access management.

Ability to analyze complex business processes and translate them into system solutions.

Experience with system testing upgrades patch management and deployment processes.

Strong analytical organizational and documentation skills.

Ability to lead projects and provide technical guidance to team members.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Minimum Education Training and Experience

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Management Information Systems Finance Payroll Accounting or a related field.

Extensive experience supporting major enterprise application systems preferably in public sector financial or human resources environments.

Equivalent combinations of education experience and training demonstrating required competencies may be considered.
