Job Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Lead will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy completeness and compliance of fiber network design deliverables produced by subcontractors and internal design teams. This role involves establishing QC standards performing validation checks conducting RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for design errors and driving continuous improvement across the design delivery lifecycle. The QC Lead will work closely with project managers OSP design engineers and client teams to uphold quality benchmarks and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Planning & Governance
- Develop and maintain HLD LLD QC Charter Quality Plan and Pre-QC Checklist for fiber design projects.
- Define scope of quality reviews including design compliance accuracy and completeness validation.
- Establish quality metrics defect categorization and acceptance criteria aligned with client and industry standards (e.g. Telcordia BICSI or regional standards).
- Ensure design documentation complies with client-specific standards data models and submission formats (AutoCAD ArcGIS QGIS IQGeo ARAMIS etc.).
2. Design Validation & Review
- Review and validate OSP design packages including route layouts fiber schematics splicing diagrams and as-built updates.
- Verify accuracy of input data such as survey notes ROW data utility maps and permitting documentation.
- Conduct layer checks topology validation symbol standards and connectivity integrity verification within CAD/GIS systems.
- Identify errors or deviations in design deliverables and drive corrective action with subcontractor teams.
- Ensure completeness of BOMs (Bill of Materials) permit drawings and construction packages prior to client submission.
3. Quality Analysis & Reporting
- Perform statistical quality analysis to track recurring defects and process gaps.
- Maintain a Quality Dashboard to monitor subcontractor performance and compliance trends.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for high-impact errors and prepare Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) reports.
- Prepare and publish weekly and monthly quality summaries highlighting observations error trends and improvement actions.
4. Process Improvement & Automation
- Collaborate with engineering and process teams to standardize QC workflows and introduce automation tools (e.g. rule-based design validation scripts Python-based QC macros GIS topology validators).
- Develop and maintain standard QC templates and documentation libraries.
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams and subcontractors on quality guidelines common design pitfalls and new tool updates.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as a bridge between the design teams field survey and project management office (PMO) for quality escalation and resolution.
- Work with clients QA/QC teams to align on acceptance criteria and manage feedback loops.
- Support pre-deployment and post-QC audits during project milestones or client inspections.
Qualifications :
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Telecommunications Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10 years of OSP/Fiber Design experience with 4 years in quality or audit functions.
- Prior experience with telco design / subcontractors or system integrators preferred.
