Process Safety Manager

The person reports directly to the Head of EHS & Sustainability Japan with very close work relation to the Process Safety Experts.

The PS expert is supported by the Region and Global Head of Corporate Process Safety & Risk Assessment.

His / Her main responsibilities are:

• Ensures consistency and effectiveness of process safety and risk management in Japan in line with Sika methodologies.
• Coordinates and leads the implementation of PHA Explosion Protection and Fire Prevention concepts in Japan as a moderator.
• Coordinates and leads the implementation of the Management of Change (MOC) process in Japan supports the MOC coordinators.
• Participates in major process safety incident investigations root cause analyses and guides investigation team in determination of adequate corrective actions.
• Training and guidance
  • Provides process safety training to the Japan team as required.
  • Provides expert input to the development of safety concepts.
  • Exchanges experiences develop and improve best practices in incident prevention.
  • Guides and supports assessment teams in proper risk evaluation and selection of appropriate safeguards.
• Collaboration:
  • Works closely with the project and process engineers to design and maintain high process safety standards.
  • Collaborates with the Region PS&RM function in implementing PS&RM within Sika.

Qualifications :

EXPERIENCE

• 8 years in Operation Roles inside the chemical industry preferably in Factories with potential for Major Incident.
• 4 years as Process Safety Manager PHA Facilitator or Process Safety/Risk Management Engineer

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

• Fluent in both Japanese and English
• HAZOP HAZID and Occupational Risk Assessment in the chemical industry
• Explosion Protection and Fire Prevention methodologies.
• Emergency Management
• Basics in process automation E&I Engineering Safety Instrumented Function.
• Thermodynamics kinetic of chemical processes Material Science.
• Root cause analysis methodology
• OSHA Process Safety Management Regulation (preferred)
• NFPA standards about industrial and chemical hazards (preferred)
