Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Report Data Architect to design develop and maintain enterprise data architecture supporting reporting analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
This role will ensure data structures reporting models and integration patterns are scalable reliable and aligned with business requirements. The architect will collaborate closely with enterprise architects data engineers report developers business stakeholders and IT leadership to deliver high-quality reporting solutions that drive informed decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills experience working with legacy systems (including mainframe environments) and expertise in modern data platforms and reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain enterprise reporting data models including fact/dimension tables star and snowflake schemas semantic layers and reporting datasets
- Define and document data architecture standards governance frameworks and best practices
- Ensure data models support KPIs dashboards operational reporting and advanced analytics
- Partner with enterprise architects and data engineering teams to design efficient ETL/ELT pipelines
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable reporting data structures and workflows
- Lead scalable data solution designs supporting modernization initiatives
- Collaborate with reporting teams to standardize metrics definitions and calculations
- Develop reusable data assets for BI platforms such as Power BI or similar tools
- Work closely with business units and mainframe teams to gather reporting requirements
- Ensure data accuracy integrity and consistency across reporting environments
- Establish and enforce governance standards including metadata management and documentation
- Support compliance with data security privacy and regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot complex data issues and provide architectural resolution guidance
- Mentor report developers and analysts on best practices in data modeling and reporting
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10 years of strong experience in data modeling (star schema snowflake schema semantic modeling)
- 6 years of hands-on experience with enterprise reporting platforms (Power BI Tableau SSRS)
- 8 years of experience translating business requirements into technical data structures
- 8 years of proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint Visio SharePoint)
- 6 years of experience with KPI design business metrics and analytical methodologies
- 8 years interpreting data models data dictionaries and technical documentation
- 4 years of knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management
- 6 years working in fast-paced environments with strict deadlines
- 2 years of strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills:
- 3 years familiarity with mainframe systems (IMS COBOL files JCL batch processes)
- 2 years knowledge of local state and federal regulations related to PII and data governance
- 5 years experience in data modernization or legacy-to-modern system migrations
