The Department of Natural Resources Division of Mining Land & Wateris recruiting for a Natural Resource Technician 2 in Anchorage.


This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:

This is an entry-level technical position within the Permitting Unit of the Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO). As a member of the Permitting Unit the incumbent performs the steps necessary to review applications for Land Use Permits and Commercial Recreation Permits on state land. Adjudication involves verification of completeness of applications extensive research into land records such as title land status planning documents ownership and ultimately if it is in the States best interest to issue a permit. Conducting field inspections to verify permit compliance is required.

The DMLW mission is to To provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaskas state-owned land and water aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest. The Natural Resource Specialist supports these missions through the collection of revenue from permit fees presents an indirect benefit by supporting public and commercial recreation and by allowing commercial use of State land which encourages responsible development of the states resources.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

Located on the ninth floor of the Robert B. Atwood building in downtown Anchorage our office has a positive atmosphere geared towards collaboration and teamwork. The office has a beautiful view of the Chugach Mountain Range and offers free parking. The Atwood building is near coffee shops restaurants shopping the park strip and the Coastal Trail system. Standard business hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday Friday and the daily work schedule is 7.5 hours. Options for an alternate workweek and part-time remote work are available.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience at the entry level performing technical functions of natural resource management equivalent to a Natural Resource Technician 1 Forest Technician 3 or Environmental Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
Six months of clerical work experience equivalent to an Office Assistant 2 or Recorder 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution.

OR
Any combination of the above where 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours is equivalent to one month of experience.

Supplemental Questions

Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.

Alternatively an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution must report that the other institutions transcript is given full value or that full value is recognized in relevant subject areas aligned with the post-secondary institutions curricula. It is your responsibility to provide this evidence when applying.
