PurposeTo lead and manage the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) function at the site level by ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements company standards and management systems. The EHS Manager is responsible for developing implementing and continuously improving EHS programs that promote a safe healthy and environmentally responsible workplace while supporting operational excellence risk reduction and a strong safety culture across the organization.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain site Environmental Health and Safety policies and programs in alignment with company and global EHS standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including OSHA EPA state and local authorities.
- Maintain EHS management systems including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 where applicable.
- Drive a factbased continuous improvement culture focused on injury prevention environmental protection and risk reduction.
- Serve as the site owner for EHS documentation procedures and records within the document control system.
Operational Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety inspections audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Lead incident investigations nearmiss reporting and root cause analysis; ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed and documented.
- Manage safety training programs including newhire orientation emergency response equipment operation (e.g. forklift lifts harnesses) and annual refresher training.
- Coordinate and document emergency preparedness activities including fire chemical spill tornado and evacuation drills.
- Maintain and update EHS work instructions procedures and records to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Compliance & Reporting
- Perform internal EHS audits and support external regulatory or certification audits as required.
- Track analyze and report EHS performance metrics including incidents near misses corrective actions and compliance activities.
- Support workers compensation claims injury reporting and coordination with medical providers as required.
- Ensure all required EHS records permits and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time.
Employee Engagement & Leadership
- Actively promote safety awareness and employee involvement through safety committees meetings and communication initiatives.
- Provide guidance coaching and corrective action related to safe work practices and compliance with EHS policies.
- Work closely with operations maintenance engineering and management to integrate EHS considerations into daily activities and improvement projects.
Success Criteria
- Effective implementation and maintenance of EHS programs and management systems at the site level.
- Reduction in workplace incidents injuries and environmental risks through proactive prevention efforts.
- Full compliance with regulatory corporate and customer EHS requirements.
