Job Summary

We invite applications for the temporary position of:

  • 1.05 FTE Grades 10-12 Online Learning Counsellor
  • Week 2 (21 days): July 2 &Aug
  • Subject to enrollment.
  • Summer NIDES staff will work in teaching-teams.
  • This position requires on-site attendance at NIDES for all assigned days.
  • An alternating week position can only be filled if the complementary week can also be filled.
  • Summer positions can be combined so an applicant can accept a week 1 & week 2 position.

NIDES teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized online learning courses and fully utilizing instructional technology and software programs to assist and manage instruction. NIDES summer teachers commit to working in an inclusionary setting where they actively research develop and maintain advanced online curriculum and support students colleagues and parents. Preference will go to candidates with prior asynchronous online teaching experience and/or advanced training in the use of the required instructional technology and online learning.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Masters Degree in educational counselling psychology or related field (must include a 300 hour supervisedschool based practicum at the appropriate level)
  • Experience in counselling at the required level
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in secondary counselling/admin teaming
  • Recent training and successful experience in suicide prevention
  • Experience programming students and adjusting schedules as required
  • Experience working with the Handbook of Procedures from the Ministry of Education including evaluating external credits equivalency challenges manual submission to TRAX
  • Experience tracking graduation program requirements adjusting Individual Learning Plans and counselling students on postsecondary pathway options
  • Experience liaising with teachers and administrators regarding program needs and Individual Learning Plan needs
  • An exemplary track record of supportive communication with students families and colleagues
  • Experience implementing communication protocols for working with teachers para-professionals administrators parents and students
