Work Hours: 35 Hours per week

Employment Type: Part Time Hourly Contract- 8 Weeks (Existing Vacancy)

The Resource Associate provides support to resource staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained in the centre during operational hours. The position provides encouragement and guides members in the use of computers and resources to find information and to conduct a self-directed job search. The Associate also provides clerical and administrative support related to the Resource Centre.

In this role you will:

  • Guide members on job search methodologies
  • Assist members in the use of computers and other techniques to conduct information searches
  • Maintain comprehensive activity log sheets
  • Prepare member intake and usage documentation
  • Produce written and statistical reports as requested
  • Participate in program marketing
  • Model appropriate behaviours to staff in line with our Mission Vision and Values; establish rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviours with staff and members. Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner
  • Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism and imparts this knowledge and belief upon staff volunteers and members.
  • Other duties as assigned

You bring:

  • Enrolment in post-secondary education in a related field preferred in Employment Counselling Business or Human Resources Management
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to employment and local labour market opportunities
  • Some knowledge of relevant legislation relating to employment
  • Flexibility regarding assigned schedules including days evenings and weekends
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members staff and volunteers; excellent written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Power Point
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and building a sense of belonging

  • Focus on the health safety and wellbeing of all children youth and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services

    Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:

    • Are between 15 to 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
    • It is a funding requirement of this position that candidates must be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
